Champagne des vignerons

The domain

Presentation: Our 100% Chardonnay vineyard is located 70% on the Côte des Blancs. Harvesting-Handling, our head office and sale at the property is located in Cramant in the middle of the vineyards in a green and bucolic setting. The production of our champagne is shared between Cramant and Grauves, where I come from, as well as the three generations that precede me. Specificities of the brand: Son and daughter of winegrowers for four and five generations respectively. Former Magister technician and concerned about the environment, we practice sustainable viticulture. All our preserved production is located on the Côte des Blancs, it reveals aromas of yellow fruits (quince), notes of dried flowers and grapefruit on the finish. Our clientele, 60% French and 40% EU, is made up mainly of small individuals, so welcoming our property is essential and helps to build customer loyalty.

Vineyard area: 6 hectares
Viticulture: Sustainable viticulture

The characters of the cuvée

Presentation of the wine: Coming from the “Côte des Blancs” terroir between Cramant and Oger, this cuvée is blended before drawing at a rate of 60% of the previous harvest and 40% of reserve wine. Our vineyard, which is very fragmented and planted between 1954 and 2014, ensures and favors above all quality and typicity to our champagne, quantity not being the priority. Aging reaches three years in the bottle. Presentation of the vintage: The 2015 wine year was marked, between the end of May and mid-August by a heat and a drought never seen before, this sunshine allowed us a spacing and a clear economy of treatments. The harvest, which began at the end of August, gave us an excellent sanitary state of the bunches and the well-balanced parameters (in particular degree-acidity), encouraged us in the spring for our blending champagne to produce a 2015 vintage.

90/100 by the Guide DVE 2020

Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Réserve Brut by the DVE Spring 2020 Guide:

Sustained straw yellow color, with golden reflections, brilliant and limpid, a beautiful presentation; the bubbles are fine and lively to form a persistent bead.

The nose is appealing, rich and fine, it associates notes of white fruits (apple and peach) with notes of white flowers (acacia); then come buttery and brioche notes. Aeration is enriched with a touch of citrus as well as a discreet touch of roasted almond.

We have a beautiful expression of ripe Chardonnay. On the palate, we have a distinctive Champagne with a frank and fleshy attack which restores the fruity, floral and acidulous flavors perceived on the nose, it is quite reactive with a lively character. At evolution, we have a fine and racy substance, the dosage which is counterbalanced by a freshness that lightly carries the mouth to the finish. The whole is well balanced, quite straight with a well integrated bubble. Good length, with aromas of toasted hazelnuts and lemon.

DVE tells you more: A rich and distinctive Blanc de Blancs with a nice tension.

87/100 by the Guide DVE 2020

Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut by the DVE Spring 2020 Guide:

Very bright golden straw yellow color with silvery green reflections, the bubbles are quite fine and numerous with rapid rise, beautiful appearance.

The nose is pleasant and quite rich, it mixes aromas of white fruits (pear, apple and quince) with notes of yellow fruits (peach and apricot) followed by citrus flavors (lemon). and exotic fruits; on airing, the nose is enriched with the fragrance of dried fruits (almond and hazelnut) with notes of toasted sandwich bread, toasted touches or even a discreet note on the dragee. On the palate, full and fleshy attack, where we find these flavors fond of apple and citrus fruit with a touch of liveliness that gives it dynamism.

Over time, we have a relatively fine Champagne with a certain vinosity which is offset by real freshness. The whole is well crafted, with good fruity and toasted length.

DVE tells you more: A good brut that is classic at the same time, well scented and pleasantly lively.

Selection Guide Hachette 2021

Appellation: Champagne
Wine name: Gaspard-Crépaux
Denomination: Blanc de blancs Tradition

Type: white
Rating: 1 star

Comment from the guide: Mobilizing the 2017 harvest supplemented by the harvests of the 2 previous years, this light gold chardonnay combines candied fruit and roasting on the nose. These toasted notes combine with citrus fruits in an intense, full-bodied and round palate, tense by a beautiful acidity.
